Can Entrecard increase your web site traffic?
What is Entrecard?
Entrecard is a free service for bloggers looking to generate extra traffic to their blog. Your first step is to create an Entrecard (a 125×125 image) which is then listed in a chosen category on the Campaign section of Entrecard web site. Your campaign listing provides information on your blog including it’s Entrecard popularity score, the title, a short description, a handful of recent posts and the Entrecard credit cost for advertising on your blog.
If someone wants to advertise on your blog they pay the specified number of Entrecard credits and the advert (the persons Entrecard) is shown to you for approval and if approved by you is scheduled to be shown in the Entrecard widget on your blog.
How do I earn Entrecard credits?
The credits can be earned through the exchange of Entrecards. You earn a credit for dropping your card on someone elses widget (click drop on the Entrecard widget), you earn credit everytime someone drops a card on your own widget and you also get credit when someone places an advertisement on your blog.
Does Entrecard work?
Yes. Entrecard can certainly generate web site traffic but it isn’t for everyone and it does require some work (dropping cards) to get the best out of it.
One of the main things that people do not like is that you will see the bounce rate on your site increase as some people visit your site to just drop cards and aren’t interested in your site content and this can put some people off. On the otherhand in my experience if your blog has good content then you will also get visitors who not only drop cards but also become regular visitors who leave valuable comments and feedback.
For a blog just starting out I consider Entrecard to be a definite must but once you have become more established and have regular traffic from other sources the effort required may no longer be worth it.
